Why we collect information.
Some people collect stamps. We collect information, with the goal of better providing our customers with what they need. Nau collects information from you in order to track and improve our service and interaction with our community and to provide specific services and benefits to individuals.
What information do we collect?
Nau tracks information from customer interactions both online and at our stores. This information may include your Internet domain address, interaction with areas within our Websites or stores, and other information that helps us develop and monitor our performance and track trends and statistics to improve your shopping and site experience. However, your identity will remain unknown to us unless you tell us who you are.
We request personal information from you (which may include name, address, telephone number, email address, gender and when necessary, credit card information) when you purchase products from nau.com or from our stores for Ship To You service, when you register with us or request to receive communications or when you participate in a promotion or submit content to our Website.
We collect information about gift recipients to fulfill gift purchases, respond to customer service inquiries and for analysis purposes only.
How do we protect your information?
Dogs, mostly. Big, mean dogs. Seriously, we maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect the confidentiality and security of personally identifiable information transmitted to us on our Website, via our stores or from any other interaction with Nau.
To guard your information, our Website uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). SSL encrypts your credit card number, name and address so only Nau is able to decode your information.
To be sure your connection is secure, look at the bottom status bar of your browser window. If you see an unbroken key or a closed lock (depending on your browser) the SSL is active and your information is secure. Most browsers offer additional security alerts as well.
This site is tested and certified daily to pass the FBI/SANS Internet Security Test. The “live” HACKER SAFE mark appears only when a Website’s security meets the highest security scanning standards of the U.S. government, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and JCB.
How do we use your information?
Do we share your information?
While we are big fans of sharing, we draw the line here. We do not sell or rent your information to any outside parties. We may offer you the opportunity, at your discretion, to provide your information to our select community or business partners.
For the purpose of fulfilling your order or operating our business, we may transfer information between Nau and our preferred service providers who use that information only to conduct Nau business. For example, they may handle Nau’s credit card processing, shipping, data management, email distribution, market research, information analysis, and promotions management. We may also share your information to administer a Website experience such as a contest and in that case will notify you before you give us your information. We provide our preferred service providers with the information they need to perform their services and ensure that they protect your information at a level consistent with our standards.
We may provide aggregated, non-personally identifiable information to other companies for purposes such as reporting and marketing.
On rare occasions, we may disclose specific information upon governmental request, in response to a court order, when required by law, to enforce our Website policies, or to protect our or others’ rights, property, or safety. We may also share information with companies assisting in fraud protection or investigation. We do not provide information to these agencies or companies for marketing or commercial purposes.
