A down jacket may be unbeatable when it comes to warmth to weight ratio, but when you’re ready to trade the baffled bulk and shine of outdoor insulation for something a little more refined, boiled wool is the answer.
Dense for better warmth and wind protection
Nature’s original performance shell fabric, boiled wool takes all the style and performance benefits of wool and optimizes them for cool and wet weather. Made in Italy through a process of washing and agitation, our boiled wool offers a dense, felt-like feel that’s ideal for warm and sophisticated shirts, jackets and parkas. No wonder it’s been part of Nau’s product line from the beginning.
This season, we refreshed our collection with five new boiled wool styles for men and women. The Boiled Wool Shirt Jacket is a modern take on the classic fabric: a hybrid of an overshirt and a work jacket featuring lapped seams with raw cut edges for a casual but contemporary silhouette. Slightly more refined is the Boiled Wool Jacket—available for men in a Tyrol-style winter coat with a stand-up collar and covered placket, and for women in an elegant cropped jacket with asymmetrical front.
PFC-Free, like the rest of the Nau line
To enhance the natural water resistance of wool, we finish all our boiled wool styles with a durable water repellant treatment that’s 100% free of perfluorocarbons (PFCs). Nau eliminated PFC-based DWR treatments from our entire line in 2017, continuing a decade-long tradition of leading the outdoor industry in adopting sustainable alternatives for technical performance. The result is a resilient water repellant finish that helps our boiled wool pieces remain warm and dry in wet weather.
Timeless and transitional
And as the days get shorter and a chill creeps into the evening air, boiled wool offers warmth in a style that works as well dressed up as it does dressed down. From work week to weekend, conference room to commute, the versatility of this timeless fabric make it the go-to choice for all types of transitions.
