The Conservation Alliance: Our New Partner for Change

— By: Alison Wu

We are thrilled to announce that we’ve added The Conservation Alliance as our newest Partner for Change. Founded in 1989, The Alliance is a group of outdoor industry companies that disburses its collective annual membership dues to grassroots environmental organizations. They direct their funding to community-based campaigns to protect threatened wild lands for their habitat and recreation values. With more than 190 member companies, they plan to disburse $1.65 million in 2015.

Since its inception in 1989, The Conservation Alliance has contributed over $15 million to grassroots conservation groups throughout North America. They follow a rigorous grant proposal review process that ensures the grants go to organizations that can succeed given the necessary financial resources. You can find a list of their 2015 grantees, here.

Alliance funding has helped save more than 44 million acres of wild lands, protect 2,945 miles of rivers, stop or remove 26 dams, designate 5 marine reserves and purchase 10 climbing areas. We hope with continued support, The Conservation Alliance will grow their funding and continue to protect and preserve some of the most beautiful places on this planet. In honor of Earth Day and The Conservation Alliance, we are giving 4% of any purchase made today, April 22, 2015, to the Conservation Alliance. Just be sure to select them at checkout. Shop the men’s and women’s collections.
