Timberline Ski Area on Mount Hood reported 8 inches of rain on Sunday January 16th. Not only did it wreak havoc on the snow conditions, it brought the Sandy River to the 3rd highest flood level in recorded history. Tyler Malay and Alexandra Erickson captured footage of Mother Nature taking course, swallowing 50 foot trees (at 1:21) and washing away Lolo Pass Road. It’s simply stunning.
We’re excited to announce that Nau has been awarded the 2010 BrandNew Award for Style from ISPO (International Sports Business Network), the World’s largest outdoor trade fair. This February, we’re heading over to Germany to show our designs to Europe.
In addition to winning this award, Sport Scheck–a premium German outdoor retailer–is hosting a public choice award for all of the ISPO winners. This is where you, our friends and fans come in. Head over today (January 21st) or tomorrow (January 22nd) to Sport Scheck’s Facebook page to vote for Nau. Just a heads up, the page is in German.
Thanks for your help, it’s because of you that we love what we do!

Scott Schuman has made a career out of people watching. He is the man behind the camera for our favorite fashion blog, The Sartorialist. In this short documentary he articulates his creative process and inspiration. Quite eloquently, we might add.
Congratulations Jeremy Southgate! We’re sending you a pair of lift tickets for Heavenly ski resort in South Lake Tahoe and a Nau jacket of your choice. We all know the rule- no friends on a powder day- so if you want to ditch your friend and ski twice, you can do that too.
We’re giving away another set of lift tickets with a Nau jacket on January 28th. Click here to enter.
Congratulations to Justin Castillo for answering last month’s trivia question correctly. Portraits subject Jeff Curtes shot the photos for this season’s on-mountain styles near Mt. Hood’s Elliot Glacier.
Justin, an M3 Hoody is headed your way. It’s a staff favorite, enjoy!
Our Collective Snapshot winner – Brandon Smith – submitted his photos from a WWOOF assignment in Japan. He sent us two shots taken during a trans-Atlantic crossing last May. It was the first leg of an international adventure that included stops in France, Germany, Holland, England, and Japan. His next stop? India. Thanks for keeping in touch Brandon, we look forward to seeing photos from the snowy slopes in Japan (wearing your new M3 Hoody, of course).
Whether you’re on a world tour or visiting your local mountain on the weekend, send us your best shots of Nau in the snow. Next month’s winner will receive a men’s or women’s Shroud of Purrin Hoody. Send your photos to firstname.lastname@example.org and keep in touch, next month’s winner will be announced on February 8.
The Thought Kitchen is our effort at collective inquiry and its power to effect change. Have you ever noticed how the party is always in the kitchen? There are more walls to lean on and people are energized by the proximity to food and drink. Well, welcome to our kitchen, where we hope to tap into everything we love about that feeling—community, vivacious exchange, food for thought.
