On Repeat: Black Keys

Posted by Caitlin | May 4th, 2010 | Filed under Uncategorized

[An occasional update on what some of us are listening to now. - Ed.]

If you know me, you know that I LOVE music. I’ve lost track of all of the shows I’ve seen, maxed out my hard drive because it’s full of music, and wake up to songs playing in my head.  The Black Keys (one of my favorite bands) are coming out with their newest album in two weeks—on May 18th—and I’ve been listening to them non-stop in anticipation.  If you haven’t heard the single Tighten Up from their upcoming album Brothers, you’re missing out.

Love the Keys! My wife and I see them every chance we get. They never fail to impress with the energy of their live shows. Looking forward to the album dropping as well. For something a little different check out the album Blakroc, a collaboration between The Black Keys, DangerMouse and a bunch of hiphop/rap stars. Not your starndard Black Keys fare by any means but a change of pace doesn’t hurt from time to time.

Dave, thanks for the recommendation! Have you checked out Dan Auerbach’s side project called the Fast Five? Here’s a great video of their song “Mean Monsoon” from Rolling Stone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kWoLXXW7Pg. Let me know what you think.

I know the song from Dan’s solo album but have never seen the video. Smooth stuff. Thanks for sharing. Given your love of live music you should check out the line up at Lolla this year. Great reason to visit The Windy City. If you can make it maybe I can even get the day off work (Natural Fitness) and call it a “business meeting.” keep up the good work!
