The Though Kitchen - Dedicated to Stirring the Pot

hey NYC- we’re looking for your favorite artists and musicians

Posted by Gordon | August 31st, 2009 | Filed under Uncategorized

I skipped last week because we had an internal conversation about the Thought Kitchen and how we wanted it to evolve over time to a more interactive dialogue with the public.  A forum for discussion, debate and feedback and still be accessible for Nau fans to comfortably participate.  We will work towards that end goal in the coming months and in the meantime, I thought what might be interesting would be to shift my weekly post to an open and evolving dialogue on Nau’s visit to the Big Apple this Fall.

In the coming weeks, I will provide the latest developments on the event along with questions that need to be solved. To start, we need a list of your favorite artists and musicians…local to NYC is always terrific but great art and music travels well so the broader the list the better.

As much as we’d like them to be, blogs are unfortunately more of a one-way publishing platform. A great way to push information out there, but horribly inept at creating meaningful discussion or debate. Even comments tend to be a bit one-sided even as responses unless actively resonded to, but even then it’s easy to forget where you’ve left comments and to go back and follow up with them. With that said, it’ll be interesting to see what you come up with to move towards this goal.

On the music front, I just rediscovered a hip-hop band from Orlando called Solillaquists of Sound (http://solilla.com), here’s a free download off their new album – http://www.solilla.com/Solillafiles/Look.zip

Jesse Elder and his group are a great NY Jazz quintet, and he is amazing as a solo pianist also. Check him out on myspace http://www.myspace.com/jesseelder

    Hey Gordon..

I’m from nyc, living in Williamsburg, and we all rave about the gear you guys produce since it is great for biking. A lot of my friends and I like the following groups: MGMT, (check out their songs “electric feel” and “kids”).. and The Strokes, amongst a slew of other Indie Rock bands. Hey btw, any current promo code for nau clothing?

Thanks for the feedback so far. This is exactly what we were looking for to add to our NYC programing. Other social media channels will be used as well but The Thought Kitchen is a center for our loyal Nau followers.

We are exploring your recommendations. Please keep the ideas and suggestions coming.

Thanks for the good words and suggestions Greg, we love hearing favorable gear reviews.

As for promo codes, in the spirit of keeping Nau 2.0 sustainable and financially healthy, the days of deep promotional discounting are in the past. Our amazing product team continues to evolve the beauty/performance/sustainability value equation and prices are established to reflect what it truly costs to create an innovative and responsibly manufactured product.

We hope the longevity and versatility of our apparel will duly reward each purchase decision and our loyal fans will continue to support our approach to keeping the vision alive.

That said, I am sure we will do a late January or early February closeout sale but our tighter inventory planning and growing demand will mean limited style and size availability.

So very sorry for the radio silence…we have been eyeball deep with the successful Fall product launch and then planning our NYC arrival.

Thanks so much for all the great suggestions as we are exploring each to fill the exciting calendar of events.

More information to come but we signed a lease and will have our public opening event on November 12. We are still finalizing the entertainment for opening night and then will be having at least 2 major events per week right through the holidays.

We will keep you better posted from here on out.
