A Life of Adventure

As they say, I knew him when he was young. Logan Grayling is the son of one of my best buddies. He grew up in Canmore, Alberta with two outdoor athletes as parents so it wasn’t surprising that by the age of five he was spending most of his time on a snowboard. What was surprising was that at fourteen, in spite of living in the middle of the mountains, he had pretty much mastered the art of surfing. Every summer his family loaded their dog, surfboards and a couple tents in their truck for a two-month trip in Baja. At fifteen Logan dove into kayaking for the first time. Within a year and a half he was competing in the 2006 World Cup of Freestyle Kayaking as a member of the Canadian junior team.

He and his buddies conducted an exploratory paddling trip from the Mekong delta in the south all the way up to the Chinese border, covering 1600 miles of dusty roads and many miles of new rivers. Vietnam is a country of incredibly friendly people, a rich culture, beautiful landscapes and world class whitewater. We’ll be featuring their trip later this week in The Collective section of Nau’s website. You can also check out a video of their trip at The Tribe’s website.
